On March 4th at around 6pm local time, the AU students departed for Belgium. The 7-hour flight was spent sleeping, reading, and enjoying the selection of films provided by United Airlines. Arriving at Brussels Airport around 7:30am local time the group gathered into the vans and set off for the hotel in Leuven. After a long flight, the group split off into those who were ready to go wandering around the city and those who needed a quick nap to recover from the travel.
After exploring Leuven for a while, students gathered for drinks at a local bar and spent time chatting and getting to know each other, and then enjoyed a lovely Italian meal at Ascoli Restaurant in central Leuven.
A long day of travel, but overall a good start to the week-long immersion experience.
